Transition from being a nightclub photographer to an event photographer

Based on the Google search results I see when searching for "nightclub photography," it looks like nightclub photography got started or became more mainstream around 2006 when a basic DSLR kit became more affordable. However, with the proliferation of smart phones and the cameras on these smart phones getting better and better each year, it looks like nightclub photography finally reached its peak and has been slowly dying since around 2015 in many major cities in the United States. For example, I don't see many gig postings for nightclub photographers anymore. I also don't see new posts in online forums about nightclub photography.I know that the main content for this site is nightclub photography and the main audience are nightclub photographers, but I will be pivoting some of the topics that will be covered in the future to go along with the changing times.
